This year, MIS primary students and teachers embarked on our annual school camp to The Farm in Chiba. Students were filled with excitement as we hopped on the bus and made our way there. School camps are a great way for students to have an independent experience where they hold responsibility for themselves and are able to demonstrate maturity, creativity and a sense of accomplishment.
We began by having a bento lunch at the campsite, followed by lively games of soccer where sportsmanship and teamwork pulled each team through their matches. There was even a teachers versus student match at the very end!
Some students even got to experience vegetable picking on the farm, picking green peppers, lettuce and peanuts. For dinner, teachers prepared a barbecue, grilling various meats and locally picked vegetables. We couldn’t forget the toasted marshmallows either!
The following morning, we went to Narita Dream Farm where we interacted with farm animals such as cows, goats and sheep and learned about the process of dairy farming. There were many fun activities and even a chance to buy some souvenirs.
The camp concluded with smiles, memories and many tired students, evident of a successful camp trip. We look forward to more opportunities for bonding and independence throughout this year.
