During the summer program, our Pre-K students participated in a variety of fun activities according to three different themes.

The first theme was festivals. Students explored the concept of festivals, made some crafts such as Jester hat, paper carousel, popcorn and clown. At the end of the week, they had the opportunity to experience both Japanese and Western styles of festivals, providing them with a diverse cultural perspective.

The second theme Beach/Under the Sea offered the students an immersive experience through a lemonade stand activity. They took turns to acting as sellers and customers. They enjoyed scooping ice cubes, adding lemon slices and pouring lemonade(using apple juice) into cups. This pretend-play allowed them to explore new roles and enjoy a delightful, hands-on experience.

The last theme was “Space”.
Students learned about planets, and made some crafts such as calm down water, galaxy slime and glow in the dark keychain. They also enjoyed baking Galaxy cookies using flour, butter, vanilla extract, sugar, and salt. They took turns pouring and mixing all the ingredients. Then decorated the cookies with star sprinkles to create a Galaxy theme. Baking helps children improve their fine and gross motor skills, which can be applied to other activities like using cutlery and mark making.
