Extended Learing
MIS Saturday Academy

Curriculum
At Marie International School, we offer a Saturday Academy open not only to current MIS students but also to students from outside the school.
Our English and Math classes are divided into Beginner and Advanced levels, ensuring that each student receives instruction tailored to their individual learning needs.
Students may choose to enroll in either English or Math individually, or take advantage of our dual enrollment option for both subjects.
Class Overview
The Mind Growth Program (MGP) provides students with structured opportunities to engage in interdisciplinary themes beyond the standard curriculum, fostering both language development and conceptual understanding through experiential learning in English. The program cultivates curiosity, critical thinking, and self-confidence, enabling students to explore and interpret the world around them in meaningful ways.
Instruction is activity-based and emphasizes creative expression, discussion, and collaboration. Students are encouraged to share ideas, develop original thinking, and communicate effectively in English. Thematic units rotate every three months to maintain engagement and introduce new perspectives. Each unit is complemented by a related visit to a location connected to the theme, such as a planetarium, aquarium, or cultural facility, allowing students to relate classroom learning to real-world experiences.
Mind Growth Program
01. To develop curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills through interdisciplinary exploration
02. To enhance English communication skills through discussion, self-expression, and sharing ideas
03. To build self-confidence and expressive ability in authentic contexts

Class Structure and Goals
Beginner Class
Overview
In the Beginner class, students learn the content of each theme through structured instruction, group discussion, and guided reflection. Lessons progress step by step: first understanding the topic, then exploring related subtopics, and finally observing real-world examples. Students are encouraged to share ideas, ask questions, and express their thoughts in English, building foundational cognitive and communication skills. Each term includes a theme-related experiential visit to connect classroom learning with real-world contexts.
Target Grades
Students with lower English proficiency (Primary 1-3)
