Our Curriculum

In our Kindergarten program, we use a Creative Curriculum that includes a combination of learning styles and methods to keep our students actively engaged. We have a structured English lesson everyday that helps reinforce phonics, useful phrases, writing and reading. Our monthly themes teach students practical vocabulary words that can be used in daily activities such as crafts, math and science experiments.

Between the ages of 3-6, there are certain developmental milestones that young children are expected to meet. By using a Creative Curriculum, teachers can hand pick the best materials to make sure each student meets these crucial landmarks. Whether it be from a cognitive, physical or even a social achievement, the flexibility of our Creative Curriculum allows teachers to pinpoint the areas that need improvement and focus on its related milestones.

In tandem with our small class sizes, our teachers can construct specific lessons that strengthen the students’ confidence while improving weaknesses. It also allows our teachers to provide a learning environment where students can complete the work independently, while still being able to allocate additional time to students who may need additional support.

English Class

Our English classes have a strong focus on vocabulary, reading and writing. Even from an early age our students are working on phonics and sounding out words. At the next stage, they work on writing, learning correct stroke order, and associating the letters with the phonics they have learned. In the upper levels, students work on reading, learning new vocabulary words and improving their handwriting. Each day we have the students read from their own books and practice writing follow up with.

Daily Program

Our daily program is routinely filled to help students reinforce learning through repetition. Each day we have several different classes that help the students not only focus on reading and writing, but gross motor skills as well. We teach students about music and help them gain a strong sense of rhythm and improve their fine motor skills through dance. We also offer classes such as math to help improve numbers, shapes and patterns, science experiments to help increase their curiosity, and arts and crafts to improve their fine motor skills.

Building Confidence

Students will not only learn a new language, but will also learn that they are capable of doing much more. An important part of childhood learning is building confidence and independence. At MIS, we encourage students to challenge themselves and remind them that mistakes are a natural part of learning. Students learn we all have our strengths and weaknesses and understand that it's okay to ask for help.
