MARCH 23-27
SPRING PROGRAM 2026
Primary School & Secondary School
About
Spring Adventure 2026
A special five-day program exploring spring plants and animals is about to begin. Through a variety of hands-on activities, such as growing plants, mapping ecosystems to deepen understanding, and presenting research in a final presentation, students will dive into a rich learning experience. During the program, we will also head to the zoo to put newly learned knowledge into practice by observing animals and expressing findings through guided activities. Join us for a springtime adventure filled with excitement and discovery!

Key Feature 01.
MIS Philosophy
Under MIS’s educational philosophy, “Confidence to Be,” which focuses on cultivating the confidence to be one’s true self, we are committed to nurturing students’ abilities in “Knowing Me” (self-understanding), “Knowing You” (understanding others), and “Expanding Us” (building healthy relationships). Emotional intelligence is the foundation of our approach to education.
In this program, we incorporate the SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) framework to transform MIS’s philosophy into concrete, actionable skills that students can develop and practice.

SEL (Social and Emotional Learning)
SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) is a framework used in educational settings to cultivate emotional intelligence. In this program, each activity is designed with an educational approach that supports the development of the five core SEL competencies: responsible decision-making, self-management, self-awareness, relationship skills, and social awareness.

Key Feature 02.
An All-English
Environment
Although all levels of English speakers are welcome, there will be a strict no-Japanese policy, and English will be used at all times. Students will be encouraged to express themselves in English as much as they can.
Key Feature 03.
Chef-Crafted
School Lunches
We offer lunch boxes prepared by our school kitchen team. Based on MIS’s philosophy of learning responsibility through making their own choices, students can choose from 3 menu options each day.
We provide safe, nutritious, and delicious meals made with seasonal ingredients, carefully sourced for quality and origin

Program Overview
Biology Level 1 - Exploration of Plants and Animals
Students in Group A will be focusing on basic biological concepts through exploration of animals and plants during the Spring season. Through a combination of reading, writing, speaking and listening activities, students will be provided an opportunity to build their skills in communicating changes and cycles of Spring. They will be observing plant life cycles outside and even plant their own seeds in a hands-on project. For animals, they will look into small animals returning after Winter and be able to experience these at the excursion to Ueno Zoo.

Program Overview
Biology Level 3 - Food Chains, Pollination, and Ecosystems
Students in Group C will be focusing on a more deeper understanding of the connection between plants, animals, and their habitats. They will explore concepts such as food chains, pollination, and ecosystems through cross-curricular activities based on the core strands of English; reading, writing, listening and speaking. Collaborative projects will provide students with an opportunity to work in teams and demonstrate communication skills, through an application of their understanding of plants, animals and habitats in the Spring season. At the zoo, students will connect their learning and strengthen their ability to explain and discuss complex ideas with detail.

Program Overview
Biology Level 4 - Adaptation, Biodiversity, and Seasonal Changes
Students in Group D will be developing their English presentation and communication skills through an exploration of plants, animals, and their habitats. An advanced approach to discussing biological concepts such as adaptation, biodiversity and seasonal changes will further students’ abilities to independently and collaboratively research, analyze and present relevant information. Focusing on critical thinking and strategic planning, this group will demonstrate a vast plethora of views and be able to relate their learning to the real world. Before the visit to the zoo, students in Group D will devise a strategic plan that covers and connects the learned concepts, and also feeds their curiosity for further developing ideas and concepts.

Precautions regarding the Program
■ Changes in Program Details
Please note that there is a possibility that activities and schedules may change due to unforseen circumstances such as weather, capacity or available resources.
■ School Bus
The School Bus will only be available to students who have secured their spot for the school term. Departure times will be the same as the regular school term schedule.
■ Emergency Weather
In the event of heavy snow, typhoon, or heavy rain, we will contact you by email on the morning of the program day.
■ Allergies
If your child has any allergies, please consult with us at the time of application, so that we can remove those foods from our lunch boxes. However, we will not be responsible for any allergic symptoms that may develop after eating our lunch box.
■ Suspension of Participation
If there are dangerous acts such as abuse or violence, or if the safety of other students cannot be ensured, or if significantly hindering the progress of the class, students may be asked to go home even during the program. In that case, please note that the tuition fee on the day cannot be refunded.
