Marin Yamaguchi spent her childhood in London until she was 10, experiencing a unique blend of education at both an international school (K International School) and a private Japanese school (Hiroo Gakuen Junior and Senior High School) in Tokyo, Japan.
Ms. Yamaguchi feels that although Japan is a perfect environment for education with its safety, convenience, and climate, there are too few places to gain a solid English education while also learning deeply about yourself. She believes that it is important for students to learn in an environment where they feel completely accepted for who they are. Through positive words of affirmations, she desires students to discover each of their unique strengths and awaken their potential. She hopes that by the time they graduate, they will be bilingual adults who are willing to face their challenges and give back to those around them.
Ms. Yamaguchi holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Harper
Head of Aoyama School
In 2020, Mr. Harper joined MIS as one of the founding members. He brings over 11 years of experience in international education, spanning various grades and positions. For the last 9 years, Mr. Harper has served as a director of kindergarten, primary school teacher, and kindergarten teacher in Japan. Prior to his time in Japan, he spent 2 years teaching primary students in South Korea.
Mr. Harper holds a Bachelor's degree from Texas State University, majoring in Health Science & Sport Fitness.
Mr. Harper emphasizes that embracing mistakes is crucial for learning and growth. He believes it teaches students to overcome setbacks, promotes critical thinking when reflecting on their errors, and encourages them to take more risks, thereby strengthening their confidence.
Mr. Calderon
Head Teacher
Mr. Calderon comes to MIS with 22 years of experience in teaching and 8 years of experience as a primary school teacher in Costa Rica and Japan. Aside from teaching, Mr. Calderon is specialized in English Language Quality Assurance, Hiring, and Recruiting.
Mr. Calderon holds a Bachelor's degree from Universidad Fidelitas, majoring in English Teaching. In addition, he is fluent in English, Spanish, and Japanese.
Mr. Calderon believes that education is not a one-way road but rather a sharing of ideas, backgrounds, and experiences, where students learn from meaningful, real-world experiences. He is convinced that education has the power to transform a child’s present and future.
Mr. Vazquez

Mr. Vazquez is a highly experienced primary school homeroom teacher and physical education teacher. Prior to joining MIS, he spent three years teaching kindergarten students in Hong Kong. As a physical education teacher, Mr. Vazquez specializes in a wide variety of sports.
Mr. Vazquez holds a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Gordon State College and possesses teaching licenses in multiple countries. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Georgia, USA, Mr. Vazquez is fluent in English and Spanish.
Mr. Vazquez believes that students perform better when held to high standards and emphasizes guiding students rather than giving them the answers.
Mr. Tsui

Mr. Kaho Tsui has 10 years of experience in Montessori education. At MIS, Mr. Kaho Tsui teaches Music to primary school students aside from being a homeroom teacher. Before joining MIS, He also has experience teaching kindergarten students in Hong Kong.
Mr. Kaho Tsui holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) from The University of Manchester, UK, with a major in Art History.
Mr. Kaho Tsui’s educational philosophy revolves around enriching young minds through play and mindful experiences under a safe environment. He believes the impact we make in students’ lives makes for an even bigger and gratifying impact in our own lives.
Ms. Creek

Ms. Creek began her teaching career in Japan in 2024, bringing with her experience cultivated in Australia, where she taught a wide variety of students, ranging from kindergarten to 5th grade.
With a Master’s degree in Primary Teaching from Charles Sturt University, Australia, Ms. Creek's strength lies in her comprehensive understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and pedagogical approaches tailored specifically for primary school students. Additionally, she is a strong advocate for hands-on creation, such as arts and crafts, crochet, and pottery.
Ms. Creek believes in the perfect work and play balance that allows young learners to develop hands-on skills in all subjects. She also believes in the philosophy of multiple literacies where students can learn and demonstrate their understanding in varying ways that suit the individual.
Ms. Lim

Ms. Lim is a highly experienced primary school homeroom teacher with 15 years of teaching experience, encompassing primary school students, kindergarten students, and ESL students.
She holds a Masters of Arts degree in English from the University of Nueva Caceres in Naga City, Bicol.
Ms. Lim firmly believes that true learning occurs when students and teachers collaborate, valuing each other's opinions and contributions, as encapsulated by Benjamin Franklin's quote: 'Tell me and I forget, Teach me and I remember, Involve me and I learn.' She views every moment in the classroom as an opportunity for growth and discovery. Through collaborative learning, she cherishes the opportunities not only to acquire knowledge but also to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Mr. Domingues

Mr. Domingues is a homeroom teacher for the MIS CA class and also serves as a student counselor. He brings a background in speech therapy for children aged 7 to 18, along with experience in team training, in addition to his 3 years of teaching experience with primary school and preschool students.
Mr. Domingues holds a Bachelor's degree in Public Relations from Universidade São Judas Tadeu in São Paulo, Brazil. Proficient in multilingual communication, he is fluent in both Portuguese and English, and has a functional understanding of Spanish. Additionally, Mr. Domingues possesses a basic-level comprehension of Italian and Japanese.
Mr. Domingues’s education philosophy centers on embracing cultural differences and sharing diverse perspectives. He believe that by doing so, we can pave the way for a brighter future that benefits us all.
Ms. Yanagisawa

Ms. Yanagisawa comes to MIS with 6 years of experience in teaching primary students in Japan. Before joining MIS, Ms. Yanagisawa has served head teacher position and specialized in event planning. Aside from teaching general subjects, Ms. Yanagisawa has taught music, physical education, and Japanese calligraphy.
Ms. Yanagisawa holds a Bachelor's degree from Jumonji University, with a major in Primary Teaching and also certified as a librarian.
Ms. Yanagisawa believes in fostering an environment where children can confidently think, make decisions, and actively engage in learning. She trusts in the limitless imagination of children and values each child's unique personality. Ms. Yanagisawa is passionate about teaching Japanese culture in a fun and enjoyable way with her students.

Ms. Lisa brings over 8 years of experience in education. Prior to joining MIS, she taught for 5 years and served as a curriculum team member for 3 years at a school in Japan.
With a background in graphic design and 3D animation, she strongly believes in the creative process. Ms. Lisa holds a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from Durban University of Technology in Durban, South Africa.
Ms. Lisa believes that early education plays an important part in shaping children's perspectives and interactions. She is passionate about cultivating curious, creative, and compassionate young thinkers.
Mr. Sammy

Mr. Sammy comes to MIS with 5 years of experience in teaching kindergarten students and primary students. Prior to MIS, Mr. Sammy has taught in variety of areas such as Seoul, Osaka, and Tokyo.
Mr. Sammy holds a Master's degree from University College of Dublin, majoring in Marketing.
Mr. Sammy’s educational philosophy centers on allowing students sufficient time to explore independently. He believes encouraging his students to try new things at least once create their confidence as they embrace challenges.

Ms. Yuka brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our preschool team. With her passion for fostering a nurturing learning environment, she spent her career teaching infants in Japan and the United States.
Ms. Yuka holds an Associate degree majoring Early Childhood Education from Shiba Shogakuin International Business Academy.
Ms. Yuka ensures that every child in her care receives an environment where they have choices and can let their curiosity direct their learning. Ms. Yuka’s dedication, warmth, and professionalism make her an invaluable member of MIS.

Ms. Saito joins MIS with a background in educational administration and experience as a teaching assistant. In her role, she efficiently and diligently oversees the day-to-day operations of our school.
